Giulio’s Hamlet in Vivo d’Orcia

PietroGiulio - dimore storiche italiane

Adjacent to the “Casa di Pietro” in the final part of the village of Vivo d’Orcia, is this recently restored apartment.
The charm lies above all in the mix of old and new that makes it particularly welcoming and charmosa.

As well as the ability to access through its doors to the living room, the spacious kitchen and the bedroom of the downstairs bedroom, make it a very pleasant and airy home.
The living room with its beautiful old fireplace in front of which you can read while sitting on two chairs and sofa in the front wall makes this room ideal for evenings in conversation.
The large kitchen with the important opening of the exterior has the dining area on one side and the other equipped counter.
Using a ladder that has kept the old, worn stone steps, it leads to the double bedroom with en suite, which gives direct access to the courtyard garden with the ‘outdoor living room’ where there is also a dining table shaded by a pergola.
The same staircase leads upstairs where there is a small study room that precedes the beautiful master bedroom with four-poster bed and en suite.
From one of its two windows overlooking the lawn and the Mount Amiata is particularly fascinating.

“Vivo d’Orcia is not a place, it’s a way of life …”

The Castle of Vivo d’Orcia is located in the charming Val d’Orcia in southern Tuscany, 2 hours from Florence, 1 hour from Siena, near cultural jewels as Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano, to name just a few.

The hamlet Vivo D’Orcia lies at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level.

The particular combination of altitude and Mediterranean climate create an unusual combination of flora and fauna.

Many wild animals such as deer, wild boars and foxes, as well as the finest truffles are in the Monte Amiata their home.

Refuge of a pope: the estate with its imposing castle and the Romanesque church dates back to the eleventh century. The humble hermitage was transformed into a sophisticated agricultural center and well organized, when Cardinal Marcello Cervini, later Pope Marcellus II, bought the estate in 1534.

The property is still owned by the family.

The castle in January 2005 was published in “The World of Interiors”.

old trees and chestnut trees cast their shadows in home gardens, ideal for al fresco dining. fresh fruit and tomatoes, spicy sausage, homemade pasta, polenta, wild mushrooms combined with truffles and, of course, local olive oils and the precious and wines.
